Is Your Website Secure With Paypal?

I wanted to write a quick post for you guys **for educational purposes only** . It has been a while since my last post as i have been really focusing on my other money making blogs and websites real heavy these past couple of weeks. Im really growing multiple streams of income right now, as my plan is to be making at least $300-$4000 strictly from my internet businesses.

During my hiatus i have been educating myself on how to make MORE money online and i have been learning alot. I actually see how people are able to make millions from the internet, the hard part is figuring out how they did, and thats a secret that once a person finds out he or she never tells a soul. This is largely due because most of the people making big money online use black hat tactics and tools…. Yeah not so pretty anymore is it.

I have learned that their are an abundance of blackhat or semi-illegal software out there made for people to exploit the internets flaws and make money at anyones expense. These people are called black hatters. Now as i do not use any black hat tricks or tools (on this blog) i think it is essential to study these guys to stay abreast of whats current and what can be down, and tweak their strategies to my liking. Me personally i would consider myself greyhat..or right in the middle. I would never do anything illegal but i have used tools to do things i would normally and legally do, only these tools make the process easier and faster for me.

Now i will not get into details of all the black hat methods if you are that desperate to know just “google black hat seo”. But what i will do i show you guys the method used by many of these black hat seo scam artists to exploit websites who use paypal.

Heres the deal most people who sale things online are normally good at heart and they think most people are as good as they are. Secondly the average person browsing online, or even the average person who owns a blog or website knows very little to nothing at all about website security (hmm or search engine optimization for that matter). These two factors are a black hatters best friend and guess what google and firefox helps them..but i’ll get into that later.

Back to what i said about the two factors that black hatters love. They love newbies, with little knowledge and big hearts. A person like that trying to make a living online doesnt stand a chance and heres why. Because finding security flaws in a website is as simple as downloading an add-on to firefox and practically stealing from an innocent webmaster. heres how they do it:

  1. first they get the firefox browser from google. (i use firefox but not for any black hat purposes)
  2. then they download a plugin called tamper data, now this plugin was originally made for advanced webmasters to check the security of a website..or something like that i dont know but i do know that it lets you check everything thats loading on a page and “Tamper” with it…
  3. then they go on clickbank (because most of those products are sold using paypal) or they just do a google search for websites selling things that they want using paypal.
  4. once they have found the product and the site that they want to attack they first see if this person is kind and knowledgable about web security. what they do is go to the site and click on the paypal button to see if it has the mcafee and sreisign button at the bottom…if it doesnt that means that this person didnt not encrypt their site and its able to attacked. if it is protected then they move on until they find a site that can be exploited.
  5. once they find the perfect site they turn on tamper data, and click start tamper data then they click the buy now button (its usually a paypal button).
  6. as soon as they click this button a popup will appear on the screen asking you if you want to tamper this data. they then click yes.
  7. they then find an area that says amount….(this actually shows the amount you’ll be paying for the item, but in tamper data they can change the price to whatever they want.)
  8. what i have read is that lets say an item costs 47 dollays they will change it to 47 cents that way when the webmaster sees that they have a sale it will not be easliy noticed that they were scammed…because they have a big heart they just browse over their invoices and trust that evrything was done correctly with good intentions.
  9. thats it

This is just one way hundreds or thousands of black hatters exploit billion dollar companies (firefox, google, paypal) and small innocent people (normal bloggers) and make thousands in cash a week in free stuff. and then they sale it for a high price and make thousands of dollars.

This post was for educational purpose to raise awareness of what can be done. if you have a blog i would like to hear what steps you take to secure your site.
